Downtown Arlington is gearing up for another unforgettable First Thursday on August 7th, and if you haven't experienced this monthly celebration yet, now's the time. From 5-8 PM, the heart of The American Dream City transforms into a vibrant showcase of local art, live music, and community spirit.
This month's featured attraction is something truly special. Renowned local artist Jan Riggins will create an incredible interactive 3D chalk mural at Rotary Dream Park—designed to celebrate the spirit of community coming together in Arlington. It's the perfect backdrop for your next Instagram post.
Live Music & Entertainment
The streets will be alive with sound thanks to Arlington Amplified's Street Sounds program. Local DFW musicians will fill the sidewalks with everything from acoustic sets to full bands. Don't miss Symphony Arlington bringing classical flair to the streets, plus Theatre Arlington's free Best of Broadway Cabaret performances at 5:15, 6:15, and 7:15 PM.
Business Spotlights: Where to Go
First Thursdays isn't just about the entertainment—it's your chance to explore downtown's incredible local businesses, many offering special activations and extended hours:
The Tipsy Oak
This gastropub and icehouse on East Front Street serves up chef-driven menus, craft beer, and live music. Their patio is the perfect spot to people-watch during First Thursday festivities.
Hurtado Barbecue
The official barbecue restaurant of the Texas Rangers brings championship-worthy Tex-Mex BBQ to downtown. Their downtown location has become a must-visit for locals and visitors alike.
Rocketbelly
Texas' first and only self-serve boba tea bar, this space-themed spot features Rocket Chicken, custom bubble teas, and plenty of games and activities for the whole family.
Division Brewing
Arlington's first locally-owned brewery offers unique craft flavors, from refreshing blondes to hoppy IPAs. They're hosting their Rock the Growl Open Mic Night during First Thursday.
Levitt Pavilion
Located in the heart of downtown, Levitt Pavilion hosts more than 50 free outdoor concerts each year. The pavilion area remains a beautiful centerpiece of downtown and worth exploring during your First Thursday stroll.
Special Activations This Month
Participating businesses are pulling out all the stops. Miss Persis Studio of Dance is hosting a free Open House Dance Party with sessions for all ages—from Adult Country Two-Step at 5:30 PM to Kids Hip Hop at 6:30 PM. Goldilinks will demonstrate live jewelry engraving. Space Monkey Tattoo offers tarot readings and prize wheel spins. And Canvas & Co. is giving away two free professional headshots to visitors.
With an average of nearly 5,000 visitors each month, First Thursdays has become the anchor event for downtown foot traffic. It's the reason many businesses extend their hours and the catalyst that's helped transform downtown into the vibrant destination it is today.
Mark your calendar for August 7th from 5-8 PM. Bring the family, grab your friends, and discover why First Thursdays has become Arlington's favorite monthly tradition.
